The beginning of Eldan Recycling A/S dates back to March 1956 when it was founded as E. Laursens Maskinfabrik A/S. In 1980 the company changed its name to Eldan Recycling A/S and soon afterwards started to market its product range worldwide, which includes cable strippers, alligator shears, ACSR shears, machines and complete plants for processing of cables, WEEE scrap, aluminium, tyre etc. Today Eldan employs more than 100 people and develops, manufactures and installs machines and complete plants for the recycling industry. The company’s track record proves more than 800 plants and 7000 single machines delivered all over the world through its subsidiaries in Germany, USA, Australia and France.
Based on more than 50 years of experience in developing and manufacturing equipment for the recycling industry Eldan has the know-how and experience to meet all needs and technical requirements by any customer. Recycling plants and machinery manufactured and supplied by Eldan have converted millions of tons of industrial and consumer scrap into valuable commodities year after year, at the same time helping to protect the environment.
Using a modular approach, Eldan and Ferrostaal can offer very different turn-key plants with a large number of combinations both with regard to processing volumes and the production of output sizes. Thus Eldan plants ensure high performance, flexibility to process different input materials as well as flexibility to produce different output fractions, while running at low processing cost.
In the following the different recycling solutions offered by Eldan are described. These standard plants are the starting point when plants are tailored to suit specific customer requirements.
The system offered by Eldan for processing of Aluminium waste is modular and designed to process many different types of input material. So a large number of combinations can be supplied to produce shreds, chips, granulate etc. The input material can be processed into fractions which are suitable for secondary aluminium, aluminium granules and aluminium drops for deoxidation purpose.
Within the range offered for processing of cables there are plants for processing of dry cables, jelly filled telecommunication cables and greasy underground cables. The standard setup includes a Rasper, a Granulator and a Separation Table. We have standard plants with capacities ranging from 300-4000 kg/production hour. Beside that Eldan and Ferrostaal tailor plants to suit specific customer requirements of e.g. 6,000, 8,000 or 10,000 kg/production hour.
MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) Recycling
Due to the rising energy costs, landfill directives and importance of alternative energy sources it will be necessary to exploit the energy content of the waste to substitute fuel – RDF (residual derived fuel) is the result. The production of RDF is the optimum solution with regard to both environmental and economical aspects. The Eldan recycling system is designed for size reduction of MSW (municipal solid waste) such as plastic wrappings, plastic films, paper, madresses, carpets etc.
For the recycling of magnesium it will typically be a question of processing in-correct castings into a homogeneous fraction prior to re-melting. By processing the incorrect castings into a homogeneous fraction the energy consumption during the re-melting process will be reduced. The standard plant is intended for size reduction of cast magnesium parts such as gear boxes, antlers, pucks, steering wheels etc.
These Eldan systems are designed for recycling of refrigerators operating with CFC/pentane gasses/fluid in order to prevent harmful substances to evaporate into the atmosphere and to achieve the most efficient recycling of the solid materials. A complete refrigerator recycling system includes everything from pre-chopping to separation of the material.
Used tyres are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste today, due to the large volume produced and their durability. However the same characteristics which make waste tires such a waste problem also make them one of the most re-used waste materials. As the rubber is very resilient, it can be reused in other products. The materials that are the outcome of tyre recycling have many benefits (as the flexibility, strength and combustibility).
Entire or shredded tyres can be used for coastal protection projects and reinforcing embankments alongside roads. Because of its noise reducing benefits it is also useful on tram and other tracks to reduce noise and vibrations. Another popular application for the rubber is in shoe soles, shock absorbers and shock absorbing mats. Applications for powdered rubber are for example wheels (for dustbins, wheelbarrows, lawn mowers), artificial floor covering for sports arenas, flooring for stables and other protective floor (for schools, playgrounds etc) and rubber modified asphalt for road surfing (added for enhancing longevity and noise reducing).
With Eldan tyre recycling equipment the customer is able to process whole car and truck tyres (including super singles) without prior debeading being required. The tyre recycling systems are modular systems enabling the customer to invest as much as he wants to in the certain confidence that it will always be possible to add parts and modules to the system as it is required. The modular approach also provides for a large number of possible setups, ranging from a single machines for shreds or chips to a complete system for granules. Furthermore, these are Multi-Size-Plants meaning that it is merely a question of changing the screen combination in the machines, should you wish to produce a different output size.
In Eldan Recycling plants most of the items mentioned in the EU WEEE Directive can be processed except of Refrigerators/ Freezers, which are processed in Eldan Refrigerator Plants. Hence Eldan’s modular system for processing of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment can be used to process the following types of input: Computer scrap, small home appliances, handheld tools, electrical and electronic and telegraphic scrap as well as small electrical motors. For this purpose, the standard setup includes a Ring Shredder, a Multi Purpose Rasper, a Heavy Granulator and a Separation Table with capacities ranging from 800-5000 kgs/production hour. The Eldan plants are designed for automatic processing, i.e. staff is required for surveillance only.
